Assembling radios and peripheral devices, from scrap part or from kits, accounts for a larger part of our enjoyment with the hobby. This page is includes a few of the transmitters and receivers we have built and use to get on the air.
Our first kits were a couple of RockmiteIIs (40m). This one was placed in an old drill bit holder (which includes a nice place to store additional crystals).
The next kit was the NorCal (40m)
A homebrew L-match end fed tuner
The Norcal in backyard and lobster trap portable operations, respectively.
